Diecyclette
Wirksworth cyclists head for Die’s mountain cols.
Die went bicycle ballistic for a September weekend of 2-wheeled fun and timed sportive and leisure rides.
The festivities kicked off on the Saturday with the Diecyclette bike fun event packed with processions and bike acrobatics through the medieval streets of Die. This was followed on Sunday by 2000 cyclists riding a series of wonderful routes around the countryside of Die.
Four Wirksworth cyclists and friends travelled to Die to participate in the cycling jamboree. Judie Taylor, co-chair, along with husband Paul and Suzanne Clark all enjoyed the 47 kms leisure ride whilst Chris Bristow tackled 147 kms (plus hills) supported ably by Denise.
As he got off his bike after his ride Chris Bristow said: ‘I am glad I got round that route, I loved the refreshment stops with saxophone and dancers!’
Suzanne Clark added: ‘We were so lucky with clear sunny weather and the scenery was superb!
